For this Sonoma project, Moonya was inspired by the 마당 (madang), a Korean garden space that holds both gathering and solitude. There was a lot of lovely collaboration with the client who wanted to maintain the spirit of the landscape revealing itself through processes. Lucky to have such an adventurous, artistic, sensitive client. We borrowed some tricks from #franklloydwright, local geology, oak woodlands, and Korean 한옥(hanok).
